Mark Tapling

Chief Executive Officer

Mark Tapling joined PacketVideo in 2013 as the company’s CEO.  Prior to Packet Video, he was the CEO of SDL plc Language Technologies, post the acquisition of Language Weaver where he led the company’s launch of the first commercial SaaS application for high speed statistical machine translation.

Mark’s background includes over 20 years of progressive experience in the strategy, growth and financial management of technology companies across a variety of industries. Mark has served as the CEO and director of both public and private firms, through all stages of company growth. 

Mark has been recognized as one of the Top 100 People to Watch in Knowledge Management, is a former recipient of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, and received his B.S. from Michigan State University.


John Driver

Chief Marketing Officer

John Driver joined PacketVideo in 2013 as Chief Marketing Officer, where he leads the company’s marketing strategy & execution.  Prior to PacketVideo, he was Co-Founder & CEO of JoynIn, a mobile commerce technology start-up.  He also lead global field marketing at Serena, a $275M enterprise software company, where he managed marketing teams across eight countries. John also lead the enterprise & mid-market strategy team at Sun Microsystems, a $13B enterprise computer hardware & software company (since acquired by Oracle), across 15 global sales regions.

John received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.


Jerome Rota

Senior Vice President, Products

Jerome Rota is the Senior Vice President of Products at PacketVideo. Prior to joining PV, Jerome was the creator of the DivX technology and is one of the co-founders of DivX, inc., where he held various positions ranging from engineering lead to VP of Media Experience. During his tenure at DivX, Jerome served on the Board of Directors that oversaw the sale of the company to Sonic Solutions then to Rovi.

Jerome is an accomplished editor, compositing infographist, special effects designer and has extensive knowledge of video technologies. He has been involved in computing, graphics and digital video since the age of six, and was formerly technical director and chief infographist for a commercial design firm.

Jerome holds bachelor degrees in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Computing from University of Montpelier II as well as Entertainment, History of Arts, and Audio-Visual arts from the Paul Valéry University, Montpellier III.


Greg Sherwood

CTO & Senior Vice President Engineering

Greg leads the engineering teams developing the complete portfolio of products within PacketVideo, including research and development of new technology.  Greg joined PacketVideo in 1999 and was the original architect and developer of the streaming server product.  Before taking on his current role, he served as Chief Software Architect responsible for leading the systems engineering group and overseeing architecture and design decisions. He led the architectural design of the CORE product for embedded devices and was an integral part of the effort to release OpenCORE as a public open source project, providing the original multimedia framework within Android.

Prior to joining PacketVideo, Greg worked on signal processing algorithms and software for real-time embedded systems designed for signal detection and intercept. 

Greg received his B.S & M.S. in Electrical Engineering and B.S. in Physics from MIT, and his Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from the University Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
