Mobile Software Developer

Position Scope

• Design, develop, and verify multimedia applications on embedded mobile devices in a dynamic, growing organization
• Range of applications includes Media Players, Video Telephony, Mobile TV, and Camera recorders

Job Requirements:

• BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• Software architecture design experience
• Experience with product lifecycle processes
• At least 2 years experience developing C or C++ software on an embedded device.
• At least 2 years experience developing software on an embedded device RTOS (Android, iPhone, Symbian, J2ME, BREW, Linux, pSOS, embos, Pocket PC or PalmOS)
• Working knowledge of software configuration management tools (ClearCase)
• Working knowledge of emulation and debugging tools ARM ADS, Microsoft VC++, Metrowerks CodeWarrior)
• Good codign and documentation practices

Preferred Qualifications - experience in any of the following areas:

• Familiarity creating Mobile Multimedia applications and user interfaces
• Familiarity with multimedia standards (MPEG-4, H.263, AAC, JPEG, MP3)
• Experience developing middleware on Android, iPhone, Symbian, BREW or WinMobile
• Experience developing on Windows Mobile 2003 and 2005 Smartphone and PocketPC SDKs
• Gaming development experience on embedded devices a plus

Field Application Engineer

Position Scope

• Provide multimedia expertise to potential customers or partners of PacketVideo during the sales process. This includes presenting technical details about PacketVideo technology and performing demonstrations of PacketVideo technology and product suite
• Drive sales strategy objectives during customer visits. This involves planning the strategy of each customer meeting with the Sales Account Manager and driving the meeting outcome to those objectives.
• Manage joint development projects between PacketVideo R&D and PacketVideo partners by being the technical point of contact between PV and customer.
• Provide technical communication and support of PacketVideo technology during the entire sales engagement with customer or technology partner.
• Develop strong relationships with all levels of engineering management at the customer. Meet or exceed the committed deliverables for each engagement.
• Provide technical specification and feature feedback to Product Marketing and Engineering for future releases.
• Prioritize activities to support a primary Sales partner while assisting other team members.
• Assist with demonstrations of PV technology at customer meetings and tradeshows.

Job Requirements:

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 5 + years experience and knowledge of embedded HWSW systems design required.
• Multimedia and/or Wireless knowledge and experience is considered a plus.
• Experience with DLNA, UPnP, or other connected home technologies is considered a plus.
• Excellent communication skills including technical presentations, technical writing and public speaking.
• Customer friendly attitude, detail focused, reliable follow-up on commitments to customer.
• Ability to travel for customer visits within the U.S. and Canada, and occasional international travel for tradeshow support as required.

Mobile Web 2.0 Software Engineer (This is a Contract/Contract-to-Hire Position)

Job Scope

• Design, implement and optimize portable multimedia Web 2.0 clients for mobile devices according to detailed user interface specifications.
• Implement asynchronous interfaces for client-server interaction

Job Requirements:

• BS or higher degree in Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
• 3 or more years experience in embedded software development
• Experience with design and Client development for mobile devices
• Demonstrated expertise in Embedded Java Development
• Understanding of Product Lifecycle Processes and tools
• Working knowledge of software configuration management tools

Preferred Qualifications - experience in any of the following areas:

• Knowledge of mobile platforms and web-based experience on mobile browsers
• Embedded RTOS's such as PalmOS, Symbian, Windows Mobile, BREW, or embedded Linux
• J2ME Configurations and Profiles, such as CLDC, MIDP and associated Java Spec Requests (JSRs)
• Streaming protocols such as RTP, RTSP
• Multimedia file formats (AVI, MP4, ASF) and transport protocols

J2ME Mobile Software Developer (Java and Wireless/Mobile Engineering)

Job Scope

• J2ME development, and porting mobile applications to new mobile phones in our Palatine, IL office.

Job Requirements:

• B.S. Computer Science or Engineering required, M.S. Computer Engineering preferred
• Software engineering experience involving Linux, UNIX and Windows platforms
• 5+ years experience involving "hands-on " development, mobile device engineering, mobile software development, testing and release management
• "Hands on" Development skills in developing OO Design, Design Patterns, Multithreaded programming and multi-tier architectures.
• Experience in using software IDE's such as Eclipse, RIM Java JDE front-end / requirements planning

Preferred Skills

• Experienced with the development of User Interfaces - mobile client and web based
• Well versed in developing for embedded, mobile handset, memory and resource constrained devices with supplemental skills in software quality, process, test and build optimization
• Technical skills involving Mobile, Web (HTML, XML, Ajax, Javascript, Flash)
• Well versed in development using J2EE servers Tomcat, JBoss and build/test systems Ant, JUnit
• Skilled in Multimedia, Messaging, UI Mobile development Databases (SQL, MySQL Server)
