PACKETVIDEO'S MULTIMEDIA UNIVERSAL PVPLAYER POWERS THE NTT DOCOMO P903IX HIGH-SPEED MANUFACTURED BY PANASONIC

Enables HTTP Streaming Playback of Microsoft Windows Media Video Protected by Microsoft DRM Technology

Editor's Note: This is the first PacketVideo-powered handset enabling the download and playback of high-bit-rate content via the handset's high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) modem. This is a big step forward because the handset, with PacketVideo's player, can stream high quality, protected content from virtually any source of Windows Media-protected content on the Internet.

TOKYO (April 19, 2007) – Anticipating and answering the steadily increasing demand for premium video streaming services on NTT DoCoMo, Inc.'s FOMA® handsets, Panasonic’s newest handset for NTT DoCoMo employs PacketVideo’s Universal pvPlayer™ for high-quality video streaming playback, according to PacketVideo. The handset, P903iX HIGH-SPEED, launches today and is the first FOMA phone from Panasonic that utilizes PacketVideo’s multimedia software solution.

P903iX HIGH-SPEED enables advanced quality video streaming playback with Microsoft® Windows Media® Video and Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM) 10 for portable devices as well as supporting HTTP protocol for streaming services.

"Mobile video services are important to the mobile consumer in Japan, and this partnership with Panasonic enables PacketVideo to power the quality multimedia experience they expect in an elegant handset, said PacketVideo CEO James C. Brailean, Ph.D. "FOMA is one of the networks leading the advancement of multimedia services for consumers, and it's this progressive partnership with both NTT DoCoMo and Panasonic moving it forward."

“Panasonic is producing innovative multimedia phones like the new P903iX HIGH-SPEED,” said Noritake Okada, director, Mobile System Development Center, Panasonic Mobile Communications. “In working with PacketVideo’s multimedia experts, we’re able to bring to our customers a major advancement in delivering video streaming contents in the Microsoft Windows Media Video format and its DRM technologies.”

“It is our great honor to have our Universal pvPlayer integrated into Panasonic’s exciting new phone,” said Kazunori Takagi, president, PacketVideo Japan. “Our multimedia technology makes high-quality video a reality in the rapidly growing FOMA services.”
