PACKETVIDEO'S CORE MULTIMEDIA PLAYER FOR VIDEO AND MUSIC POWERS 10 NEW MODELS IN NTT DOCOMO 906i & 706i SERIES

CORE Enables Multiple File Format and DRM Protected Content Playback

TOKYO (May 27, 2008)—PacketVideo Corporation (PV), a subsidiary of NextWave Wireless (NASDAQ: WAVE), has been selected by NTT DoCoMo to power 10 new advanced multimedia player handset options with PV’s universal player software, also known as CORE™ multimedia client framework.

All 10 handsets—model numbers F906i, P906i, SH906i, SO906i, SH906iTV, F706i, P706iµ, SH706i, SH706iW, and P706ie—are available in the Japanese market shortly. Through PV’s CORE software they all support Microsoft® Windows Media® technology.

Because PV’s CORE software can handle a broad array of media and file formats of video and music, FOMA™ handset users can play 3GPP (MP4), “i-motion” (MMP4) and Windows Media content. All 10 handsets support Microsoft’s Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) for phone-to-PC transferring in addition to using Windows Media Audio (WMA) and Windows Media Digital Rights Management 10 (WMDRM10) for portable devices to play Windows Media content. These seven models—P906i, SH906i, SO906i, SH906iTV, P706iµ, SH706i, and SH706iW—support Windows Media Video (WMV) for streaming services, and enable watching video content from the network with full-browser application at 30 frames per second.

“The growing number of CORE-powered phones is a clear sign of NTT DoCoMo’s leadership in mobile multimedia services,” said PV CEO James C. Brailean, Ph.D.

“Our subscribers must have a consistent and positive user experience for mobile media and the PV solution ensures that quality,” said Dr. Kiyohito Nagata, Senior Vice President, Managing Director, Product Department of NTT DoCoMo. “The addition of so many new handsets, including our ‘Keitai’ model with the advanced multimedia services, elevates the enjoyment of video and music to a broader range of consumer.”

“It is our honor to provide our CORE software to 10 new 906i and 706i series phones, bringing our cumulative number of PV-powered phones 70 models for NTT DoCoMo,” said Kazunori Takagi, president of PV Japan. “We appreciate the opportunity to support NTT DoCoMo to expand the number of users who can enjoy the benefits of a PV-powered FOMA experience.”

The following 70 FOMA phones (including two models that are F801i, a child-friendly 3G mobile phone launched in December 2007 and F884i, Raku-Raku PHONE Premium launched in April 2008) are powered by PV’s CORE software in Japan.
